One client crashed with unhandled exception on screen

Asked by Bartek

Standard client installation, net 2.0, standard 1.0.5 client with modified xmds.php path.

Continue button cause error reappear, so it was some kind of permanent error. After client restart works ok again.
Never happened before on 46 other simillar clients ;) Different client that one with unstable connection problems.
No infos in log.
Client was still online with this error, so server communications routine worked probably ok in background?? No display on screen.

Probably some catch and exit would be better if possible, then client could be restarted by some cron etc.

Hi Bartek

I've been speaking to Dan about this and the received internet wisdom on that error is a bug in the .net framework itself.

We're going to change the recommendation from .net framework 2.0 to 3.5 which may or may not address this - time will tell!

Can you upgrade that machine to .net framework 3.5 and see.

Cheers

Alex

I've already updated some of my machines with 3.5, but not this one.

I'm using tool from http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/pages/8904493.aspx becouse of some errors during 2.0 sp1->3.5 sp1 update. It could be helpful info for others in case of error during such update. There is no problems in 2.0 -> none -> 3.5 sequence ;)

Ok, so I'll probably wait some longer time if error would reappear at all on this particular machine - it was first time ever.
In case of next errors net will be updated to compare situations :)

Thanks for info.
