Auto-scroll a web page

Asked by Shahid

Possible feature enhancement? I notice that when displaying a web page in Xibo, it will only display as much of the page as the current video resolution will allow. What do you do when you have more content on the page than you can see? For example, we have a sports news web page which does also have an RSS feed, however since Xibo doesn't do full-text RSS (as far as I know) we are limited to partial stories. To display the full sports blurbs, I have to display a full web page which has multiple sections and requires scrolling to read through them. Not to mention, the content our web mistress puts on the page is a little more "rich" than what I can get my users to put up via Xibo.

Thoughts, input, and ideas welcome!?

Shahid

Hi Shahid

Xibo will show whatever is in the description field of the RSS feed. If that happens to be HTML then it should show that too. If the feed you're giving Xibo only has abstracts in it then clearly it can't show the full story. If it has the full story, but in a different field, you can reformat the feed using Yahoo Pipes to put the full story in to the Description field - at which point Xibo can display it.

It would however be nice to have the ability to position an embedded webpage (which you will be able to do in 1.0.5 with a bit of a hack on your part using an iframe) and to scroll it. Someone should write it up as a blueprint.
