Hi

The upgrader is trying to backup the database. One of the first things it does is to set an infinite maximum execution time so that this doesn't timeout on large databases.

I suspect that it was unable to do so in your scenario, and so 30 seconds or so in the webserver is killing PHP off and so the backup never completes.

There's two options:
1. Comment out the upgrade step in the upgrader.
2. Look at why your database is so large - perhaps truncate your log and stat tables if you don't need that data?
