'Disapearing' files in Library

Asked by andyc

Great product etc. rolling it out at a campus school in Milton Keynes.

I am having small problem regarding files in the library. Currently have some powerpoint files in the library but every so often these just disapear and dont show up in the 'Library' section of the dashboard. They are still there because when in layout I can reference them and they appear as library items.

I am assuming that it is a browser problem but I am not too sure, it happens in IE7 and Firefox.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Andy

Are you the only person who uses the system? Xibo doesn't usually let you delete a file, but it will retire one (ie the file is still in the system and can be used by existing layouts, but cannot be used in new layouts).

If you can get the ID for one of the files that's gone missing, we can then run a query in the DB to see if someone retired it.

If you look in the library folder on the server and find a powerpoint that's missing, the number we need is the filename (ie 27.ppt).

Cheers

Alex

Thanks for the response. I am the only person using this. As I am about to go home I'll look your additional info on Monday.

Interestingly, though, I signed in to Xibo on a different PC and the library items appear as expected (even though they are not showing on the original PC, even after doing refresh) which is why I am assuming it is a browser problem. When this has happened before if I then sign on the next day all appears as normal.

Thanks Andy

It's not the filter options? I sometimes have a wierd thing where the file name search gets populated with the word "all". We've never been able to track that down (so far!).

Marvellous!!!

Just checked the filter options and yes the name to find was set to 'all'. Removed this to blank and all comes back ok. Never used the filter option before so yes it's a weird one.

Thanks for the speedy help

Andy.

OK. I've just mentioned this to Dan and he thinks he's solved this already.

What version are you running?

I thought I had fixed this - but it seems like I didn't... strange...

Will convert to a bug so we don't loose track of it again.

Cheers,
Dan
