Error when registering display

Asked by jslater

When trying to register a display, I am met with the following error - Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Great App by the way.

Hi James

That message usually occurs for two reasons:

1. You didn't click "Save" after changing the server address in the client dialogue before changing tabs and clicking on "Register"
2. Some other error occured. Please work through the Management -> Report Fault routine on the server and email the troubleshoot.txt to <email address hidden>. Where it asks you to reproduce the problem, attempt to register the client.

Cheers

Alex,

sorry for the delay in replying, been a hectic week at work here. I have managed to get the system up and running and it is working great. Thanks for your quick reply, and once again sorry for my delayed reply. Cheers.

Hi,
I have the same problem.
Can I also send 'troubleshoot.txt' to the email address given?

Hi Marek

First please go to the client options and click "Display Admin" button. Then add /xmds.php to the URL and tell me what you see.

If you get a page describing the functions available on the webservice, then feel free to send over a troubleshoot.txt to the <email address hidden> address and we'll take a look...

Cheers

Hi Alex,
thanks for a quite response.
That's a little bit strange:
when I was trying to register with server URI like: http://IP_ADDRES/xibo/
"Xibo Service URL" looked like: http://IP_ADDRES/xibo/xmds.php
but when registering there was quite a lot of log messages starting with:

"Client found response content type of 'text/html', but expected 'text/xml'.
The request failed with the error message:
--
<br />
<b>Notice</b>: Undefined offset: 8192 in <b>E:\xampplite\htdocs\xibo\lib\app\debug.class.php</b> on line <b>68</b>"

I added "/xmds.php" to the server uri so then "Xibo Service URL" looked like:
http://IP_ADDRES/xibo/xmds.php/xmds.php
and registering gave the same error.

But then I again changed uri to: http://IP_ADDRES/xibo/
and the registration was successful :-)
I'm using xampp lite. Could that be the issue?
Anyway, I'm glad it works now so I'm going to test it.
Thanks for the help.

I've never tested with XAMPP Lite so I can't comment.

I'm glad it's working, but I suspect this problem will come back if it was something other than you not clicking Save before moving to the registration tab.
