mp4 videos on xibo 1.6.4 with minix neo-x8

Hi everyone,
I have a xibo spring signage installation which is linked to a minix-neo x8 android 4.4 with a toshiba 48" portrait screen.
The screen is in a shop window and should play a dozen of mp4 files but by more then three added files to one design / layout the videos start to look broken (like a grid overlay of the original video) the other (first three uploaded videos) just work fine.
Anyone has an idea where this potentially comes from? If I run the preview in my browser the videos just work fine, also when downloading the videos again from springsignage they are normally playing on any computer.
