Client hardware for industrial environment

Asked by SalvaConNome

Hi to all,

I'm planning a Xibo solution with Windows clients that they'll placed in a dusty environment.

Anyone have experience in similar situations?
What kind of client I must use?
In general, at your experience, a client based on DELL OptiPlex 3020 (Intel i5-4590T quad-core, 6 MB, 2 GHz graphic HD 4600, Windows 7 Enterprise, 4GB SDRAM DDR31600 MHz, HD 500GB) is enought for a client that must play a complex structure (more than 1 video and web pages at the same time)?

Thanks in advance,
Simone

Hi Simone,

That player specification seems to be plenty enough for an Xibo Player - as for the dusty environment, anything with active cooling (with a fan) may need regular maintenance to remove dust, etc. A fanless Android or Linux device may be a better choice, however several manufacturers do make windows hardware that will work in those environments (we have not specifically tested any, sorry).

MSI makes some industrial PCs that are fanless and have even some decent IP rating (like 54 or something).
Basically look for "Industrial PC" and you will be good to go.

Can you help with this problem?
