What CMS is going to be used for 1.8, custom or is it going to be based on an open source CMS that is out there?

I understand that but are you going to use another CMS to base it off or are you going to start from scratch?

Is 1.8 going to be open source too?

Of course it will be open source! It'll be based on our 1.7 release. We
don't start over each time. It's just a continuing development. We're not
starting over

I just wanted to add to this - I get the impression want to change many parts of Xibo and I know we have encouraged you to work with us to see if we can meet your goals and those of the project.

However - your approach seems to be to "re-write everything" rather than enhance what we already have - this does not fit with what the project needs. Starting over with Wordpress (as you have suggested privately), or starting over with this library or that library is not the way to proceed.

In which case I suggest that you register a new project (obviously not called Xibo) so that issues and management related to your specific ideas can be tracked independently.

I hope this fits with what you need and I hope there are some parts of Xibo you choose to keep (the XLF format would be good to keep for example!).
