XIBO running with MSSQL database

Asked by Daniel Kwan

From previous post (http://xibo.org.uk/tag/cms/), it indicates that the current version of Xibo 1.6.4 has begun to support PHP PDO which potentially could connect to not only MYSQL but also MSSQL and other databases. May i get more information about how this can be done? In the post, it says "all queries covered from 1.7 series", does it mean the current version of 1.6.4 is not ready to support other databases? May anyone please kindly advice?

Thanks

Hi Daniel

We're slowly moving over to PDO.

1.6.4 won't run on anything but MySQL and there won't be official support
for MSSQL in 1.7 series either. Once all queries are converted over to use
PDO then it's feasible for it to run on other databases, but it's not
something that's a priority for the project. We're moving to PDO for other
reasons.

Alex,

Will there be a rough plan or schedule about when all queries are converted to PDO?

Thanks

Daniel

Hi Daniel

They're done as parts of the system are worked on. There's no fixed
timeline.
