Media Types/Formats xibo supports

Asked by Richard Catibog

Hi Support,

We had a requirements for clients that needs the following file data formats to be executed/displayed on the screen for the viewers.

Data Types:
images : jiff
Video: Live Streaming of Social Media
Document: .doc, .pdf
Audio Files (What are the different types that xibo supports?)

Do xibo supports all the above data formats?
Can we add a video streaming on a region?

Your response will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Video streaming can be added via the Local Video module (entering the stream URL). The underlying stream codec and container would have to be supported by the O/S (Windows Media Player on the windows client).

JIFF can be added as a valid extension to the Image module by going to Administration -> Modules ->Edit. I must confess I am not sure how the clients will respond to that - I would have though the windows client would play it.

DOC / PDF are not supported at the moment - sorry! You could however put them on your webserver somewhere and reference them as a Web Page media type.

Audio files are played through via the Video module at the moment - support is whichever codecs the PC supports, but you would have to add the extensions to the video module in the same way as for JIFF.
