Audio delay from video on Xibo Client

Asked by Theo

Hi everybody.

Thanks for good support on Xibo!!!

I have a new issue. Using Sapphire Mini PC Edge HD4 (CPU: Intel Celeron Processor 847 ; Graphics: Intel HD Graphics, RAM: 4GB) displaying audio-video content on Xibo Client, all media displayed on a monitor has an audio delay from video both using audio from HDMI or Analog Output. This happens only with Xibo Client. If I use a simple video player such as "Parole", all goes good: audio & video are synchronized. If I use another PC, also running media in Xibo Client, all goes in the right way. Which could be the problem and which is the solution?

Waiting a fast reply, have a nice time.
Theo.

Xibo for Windows uses Windows Media Player to run video - it might be the case that WMP is having problems playing video on that hardware. Perhaps you can try in WMP and see?

Hi Dan & Thanks for your reply.
I'm using Xubuntu Server 14.04 version as main server and each Xibo Client has Xubuntu 12.04 LTS.
So I have to run media contents with Xibo internal player.. This is the problem.. With other audio-video player, using same hardware but out of Xibo, (i.e. "Parole" or "VLC") all goes in the right way (audio-video synchronized).. With Xibo Client player and Sapphire HD4 Hardware, audio comes before video, out of sync.. So the problem still remains..

You would need to look to the libavg project for a fix for that as that's
where the player comes from.

Xibo itself doesn't do any video playback.

Likely it's because the hardware isn't powerful enough or isn't well
supported

Hi Alex.
I hope all is well.
I'll look at libavg.. But I think it's a problem linked to Xibo Client.. If I run audio-video media contents in the same hardware with "Parole Player" or "VLC Player" all goes well: audio & video are in sync and video playing is perfect. So this is not a problem related to the hardware i'm using..

I tried also to install different Intel drivers to solve this problem but the risult it's the same or worst: Xibo Client are not in sync or has "video refresh issues" but if I use other audio-video player external from Xibo Client all goes good..

Xibo doesn't play the video - libavg does which uses ffmpeg under the hood.

I'd suggest using a different video codec and see if that solves your
issue.

Even if the issue were fixed in libavg it's unlikely we'd be able to
release that fix in any case as the libraries that we depend upon for the
browser integration require the older version of libavg we're currently
using.

Basically it is what it is. You'll need to get what you have working by
changing the video. That is why it's still alpha and we've not ever
released it for production use.
