Unable to install - PHP Gettext support to function

I am trying to install to a Zyxel NSA325 v2 NAS.
It is based on Arch Linux ARM v5 and has FFP 0.7 installed.
FFP provides Lighttpd, PHP and Mysql.
The PHP has no gettext extension and there is no compilation environment.
I have other web applications installed and working without problem.

The Xibo installer passes all checks except Gettext has a red cross.
It shows this error: PHP Gettext support to function

I only wish to use Xibo in one language English, do I really need gettext ?
Can it be disabled in Xibo or maybe there is a workaround ?

Please advise.

Every single text string you can see in the UI goes through Gettext - so
you would need to either add your own compliant function calls to replace
the gettext functionality or get gettext working.
