Problem reading RSS after upgrade

Asked by Sundsvalls kommun - Webbgruppen

We were using Xibo 1.4 running on Windows and it was working fine. After an upgrade to 1.6.3 Xibo starts complaining about invalid mime types: "Feed Error: A feed could not be found at http://www.svtplay.se/agenda/rss.xml. A feed with an invalid mime type may fall victim to this error, or SimplePie was unable to auto-discover it.. Use force_feed() if you are certain this URL is a real feed."

Feeds that were working earlier no doesn´t.

We are not using a proxy server.

Any ideas?

That feed is broken (http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.svtplay.se%2Fagenda%2Frss.xml) and is incompatible with the CMS feed library we are using.

Sorry, but the only way would be to fix the feed :(

Ok - thanks for the answer. The new version of Xibo must have stricter rules regarding RSS validation because this has never been a problem earlier.

That leads to the next question: How can I format how the date shows on Xibo? We work for the muncipality of Sundsvall (Sweden) and would like the date to be shown in a Swedish format. How can I change this?

It may prove to be a little stricter than the prior client library - basically the 2 clients used to parse RSS locally on the client and then construct the resulting display - this lead to discrepancies between the clients abilities and rendered output. We took the decision to move the feed parsing out of the client and into the CMS so that they would all have the same capabilities.

The downside is that although some things improved, some got "worse". I'll create a bug and see if we can get this resolved.

Regarding the date - it is not currently possible, but I have created a wishlist item for it here (https://bugs.launchpad.net/xibo/+bug/1371881).

As a workaround you could use a service like Yahoo Pipes to reformat your feed to the desired date format - a side effect of this may also be a corrected feed!

Can you help with this problem?
