Deleting Media

I find I have over 250 media entries (Library/Media), probably 200 of them no longer used. I can select Action/Delete then Retire this Media to remove them, but is there a quicker way to do this? Doing this operation every time for 200 entries will take ages.

Retiring will only hide them. They will still be on the server and in the
database.

You need to remove them from layouts and then delete to completely remove
them

The question is how to delete more than one at a time. Most of the items in the media list are no longer used in any layouts, and are no longer required. The only option given is Unassign from all Layouts or Retire this Media. Does this have to be one at a time?

Could this be a future enhancement for the product? It seems to me that it would save a lot of time for users and encourage them to keep there files in a controllable state.
