Python (Ubuntu) Text Issues in Android

Asked by bhavanitech

Hi,

I would like to know when the following text features such as inconsistent display, stuttered scrolling, white patch which transitioning in the ubuntu client will be fixed ?

I mean text in python client isn't production quality, in-consistent in rendering and very resource intensive. Text is a fundamental aspect of any Digital Signage system and if that's buggy then the whole presentation takes a hit and in my experience, actually a pain to watch.

Does the the Android client also suffers from the above text rendering issues?

thanks
bhavani

Hi

I do the best I can with the time I have available. Several others have
started work on an alternative Linux client but I haven't seen any results
from that.

The Android client is a commercial product from Spring Signage and doesn't
share a codebase with the Linux client at all - and doesn't suffer those
same issues.

Please keep in mind that for those very reasons we've never released the
Linux client as production ready or stable.

Best wishes

Alex

I sincerely appreciate the work you guys have been putting into this. Infact going by the stats it's the second most active project on Launchpad. Kudos.

Juding by the looks of it, the current bugs in the linux client does not seem major bugs. Did you try emailing the now abandoned berkelium project owners. If I was so involved into xibo as you guys are, I certainly would have made an attempt by emailing them.

Infact I would put those bugs on a scale of medium to minor severity so it shouldn't really be hard for them.

As you say the project is abandoned. We would need to switch to something
being actively developed such as CEF.

Jian does have something that works against CEF but it's not been made the
official build yet. Please be patient
