xibo ticker with muliple layouts

Hi,

I've inherited a school signage system using xibo, after upgrading to 1.6.2 I decided to do a bit of a redesign and a 'new look' over the holidays. Part of this is to introduce an rss ticker running across the bottom of the screen to display other information as well as the full screen layouts.

The we've always managed the content in the past is to create all content in its own layout and then assign all these layouts to a campaign which is then scheduled to the screens around the school. However as a ticker is assigned per layout, whenever the layout changes, the ticker is interrupted and then re-started when it is loaded again on the next layout.

Basically I want the ticker to run (loop) continuously through the whole rss feed from start to finish across all layouts in the campaign. Is there a different way I should be trying to achieve this?

The only other way I've thought to do this is to run all the content as a timeline all in the same layout but this makes scheduling different content for different screens more difficult.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Matt,

Sorry but there isn't a way to do that at present - regions and their content are "scoped" to the layout they are on and will always be restarted.

I'm not sure how we would achieve this "across layouts" but please do submit a blueprint for the idea.

The best thing you could do would be to split the items on your ticker between layouts so that all of them got some air time (perhaps using the "number of items" functionality)

In terms of splitting the items down per layout, can't you only start the feed from either the beginning or the end so not part way through?

Correct - only the beginning and the end.

At the risk of sounding flippant (I can assure you that isn't the case) you could submit a blueprint for that too :)

Alternatively you could use a service like Yahoo Pipes to split your feed "pre-Xibo"
