Offline Download Tool - Issues Launching

Asked by Adam

I've got a local server setup with v1.6.2 of Xibo. I want to use the Offline Download tool on a client PC that connects to the local server by IP address.

This worked in earlier versions of the Offline Download tool; however once I upgraded the server I needed to upgrade the tool.

I upgraded to the 1.6 of the offline download tool by completely uninstalling the old version and installing the new. Now I am receiving this python script error:

"Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "XiboOfflineDownload.py", line 38, in <module>
ImportError: No module named SOAPpy"

I noticed one other person was having the same issue and you told them to download the SOAPpy python package. Since this is on a separate computer than the server, I don't have python installed.

How do I get the newest version of Offline Download working?

If this is a Linux computer then you need to install the python-soappy
package for the client to run. If you're getting that message you very
definitely do have python installed

Actually this is the MSI package for Windows. Do I still have to have python installed? I didn't realize it was a dependency for the tool.

It should be inside the MSI package in that case. I'd need to check when
I'm next in front of a PC

When I get a chance I'll look. There's no functional difference between the
1.4 and 1.6 offline client from memory so you could just use the old one.
I'm pretty sure text and RSS tickers won't work offline on 1.6 too.

If you need a more urgent response then we can open a paid support ticket
with the project sponsors.

Ok, for whatever reason I keep getting "Error communicating with server" with the 1.4 vs trying to communicate with 1.6.2 vs of the server.

How much would that cost? I would like to do that for both this ticket and my other ticket I just opened if necessary.

Hey Adam - sorry for the roundabout answer that follows... we like to keep the community / commercial support bits of Xibo separate (we don't want to abuse this excellent system Launchpad provide) so if you can take a look at the website and get in touch with the sponsors yourself, then that would be excellent.
