Formatting RSS

I have tried formatting my Ticker as follows:

<div style="width:50%;">
<p style="font-size:22px;color:#0000FF;;">[Description]</p>
</div>

But the HTML and styling is ignored. The text colour stays black and the RSS width is still 100%.

What am I missing?
