Ubuntu PPA for Xibo?

Asked by Oceanwatcher

To make it easier to install and ensure easy updates, it would be good to have a PPA here on Launchpad for the Linux client of Xibo.

I have searched for this and can not find any mention of it. Then again - I am not an English native speaker and could have missed it.

More info can be found here: https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA

I am setting up a test environment of Xibo right now and I would really prefer to avoid the Windows client altogether. It adds to the cost of the player, it is a nightmare to maintain in an environment where I have never seen as much viruses in my life before!! (Brazil) So the Linux client is definitely the preferred one for me. But I want to make sure that it is easy to install, deploy and keep updated. Ubuntu in general is perfect. We just need Xibo to be as easy :-)

I think it would also help a lot with the betatesting.

Because of the prerequisite packages it's very hard to maintain them. Also
you need more resources than a ppa allows by default to build from source.

The installation script does the job in a way we can manage and is how the
project has chosen to deploy the client. There won't be a ppa at present

Not sure what you mean Edy? But in any case, there wont be a PPA.

Can you help with this problem?
