transition without the white box

Asked by beamar

When you have a region loading different text say every 10 seconds. Each time the software switches text, it shows a white box(guessing the entire region background) really fast. IIRC, it's more noticeable on unbuntu. Is there a way to make it transition better, so the letters just fade in and out?

Thanks,
Brian

Use the transitions on the media items to have things fade in and out. Only
supported on Linux and Android. You need to enable it in the CMS first

I'm experiencing the same thing, though it is with the Python client, so maybe that's different. Here's a video if you want to see what's happening. http://youtu.be/tmoBWVxafdI

It's the browser we're using rendering the content. We display the content
when it tells us it's ready but it's not
always the case that it is

Just watched the video - that is unpleasant, but as Alex said there is not much be can do about it at the moment. You should find that it is much better if you use the Windows Client.

From a technical perspective, the web browser tells Xibo that it is ready and rendered before it actually is.

Okay - I'll dig into the code and see if I can find a workaround, at least for my local needs.

Forgive the gross ignorance displayed by this suggestion, but I wonder if it would be possible to load a page once in the browser, and use stacked iframes for the content? When you're ready for a change, swap the z-index of the frames. It would probably be possible to use browser-level transitions when you get to that point, but until then I'd be content with a simple cut.

Basically a HTML client with a managed wrapper? We have considered that as
a potential direction (i'm sure other solutions work in that way). What we
have at the moment has a few advantages in terms of reliability,
transitioning, etc.

We haven't written the idea off entirely (for example look at the layout
preview in the CMS).

Can you help with this problem?
