Ticker Starting in the middle of the page

Asked by Brendan Koning

I have my server setup on a laptop in Windows 7 and a test laptop that is also Windows 7. On both of these machines opening the client results in exactly what I want. However on a few XP laptops the ticker starts off in the middle of the page and there are some graphics that are slightly shifted, but other graphics are the same. I've tried changing the resolution of the layout a few times but the issue still remains. I originally thought the issue might be something to do with XP, but I used a Windows 7 desktop and the ticker starts in the middle of the screen for that computer as well. I've even tried moving the ticker off the page so that it starts in the right spot, but then it just ends too early.

Which version of Xibo are you using? We did try and make some improvements
to this in 1.6, so that the CMS preview, CMS layout designer and all
clients position exactly the same.

Is there a difference between version of IE on those machines?

How does it look in the CMS preview? Correct or in the middle of the screen?

There is a difference actually, on the XP machines and the system with W7 that is not working correctly I am running IE8, the working machines are using IE9. Unfortunately I am not able to install IE9 on the XP machines and I can't imagine that downgrading to IE8 on the server would solve the problem, would it?

The CMS preview looks correct when viewing it on the server machine. I have not tried going to the server page on a different machine and using the preview function.

Can you try upgrading to IE9 on the win7 machine?

This did fix the problem on the W7 machine. I actually updated all the way to IE11 and the problem was fixed.

I am not sure how we can fix your XP problem - obviously you can't upgrade those clients IE.

This is one of many unfortunate problems we are starting to experience as IE8 is becoming inadequate to run the more complex stuff we have going on when rendering content.

Ultimately this is the solution: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/xibo/+spec/netclient-berkelium-sharp

In the mean time i'm not sure what we can do for you - sorry... I will speak to my colleague and see if he has any ideas.
