skip layout if no internet connection

Asked by Ja Plami

Hello.

Is there a way to skip layout or display something like default layout if there is no Internet connection?
Some of my layouts are web-pages across large regions. If there is temporarily no Internet connection (and these things happen even in the best companies), Xibo clients display the default Internet Explorer message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and that is, kind of, not acceptable. Is there a way to check if there is Internet connection before the layout is displayed, and if not, to skip that layout? Maybe by if/then Shell Command if there is such thing? I am a designer, not a programmer, so maybe this is a trivial question, but the answer would help me a lot :)

Btw. Xibo is very user friendly to us, non-techies :) Still, we need all online help we can get :)

Hi,

There isn't any way to do that at present, although at the very least I would expect Xibo to not show the error page and just move on (skip to the next media item in that timeline).

There is a related bug which I will link to this question.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan

can we have this for the future release ?

When a user add a webpage in a region, it should be a option of adding a
image if the screen are offline… That way when the screen is offline and
cant access the webpage, it will still show something on the screen…

I am using Android client.
