Client won't appear as a display option

Asked by David Hutchinson

After experiencing too many problems with setting up a new xibo setup, I've decided to give the old system a go that was in place before I took over the project (it kept crashing so we went down Linux route only to find power point wasn't supported...)

I've installed the client on the computer (1.4.2 to match version of admin console) and client says display is active and ready to start. However when I login to the admin console the client isn't listed in order to activate it.

I've remoted into another of the clients that has xibo on and have entered the same server details (xibo.curriculum.local) with the correct server key. That client is listed in the admin console but the one I'm setting up isn't.

You need to make sure the client hardware key is unique across all your
displays. If you have the same hardware key, then they'll show as the same
client to the server.

Unique key needs to be unique across all your clients

Thought so. So hardware key is the same as unique key? If so they are all different so not sure why it won't appear

You need to make sure they're different, click save, then register again

Manually chose a key as one it generated for me wouldn't work. Sorted now.
