Fit to region not working after upgrade

Asked by Simon Smith

Hi,

I upgraded yesterday to 1.6 which went ok (I had to delete the file on the webserver mentioned in another post as the popups weren't working to edit regions)

It looks like the existing layouts don't like the fit to region tick box, the text is appearing very small. When I untick it then its bigger but the fit to region was really useful.

I may have asked this before when it beta but can't find it now.

Hi Simon

It's really important you follow the upgrade instructions.

That means deleting your old CMS installation files directory, then
extracting the CMS fresh and replacing your settings.php file.

Extracting the files over the top of the old installation will not work.

It may not solve this problem for you, but you'll save us offering support
masses of time tracking down problems where none exist because the upgrade
wasn't carried out correctly.

Best wishes

Alex

Sorry, I thought I had deleted it. I tried deleting the folders and redoing it but is the same.

I will restore the backup and try again.

Actually going back to my backup and redoing the upgrade after deleting the folder still messes up the fit to region.

Can you explain how the functionality is different than before? It does seem to be doing something (increasing the text size), although I wonder if it is doing it to the extent it was before?

Sorry just got back into work.

I changed the file you mentioned but its still weird but looking further it looks like its the scrolling that is the problem.

No scroll or fit to region = text overflows at the bottom region 758x545 .item width 503x379 but look zoomed????
No scroll + fit to region = text overflows worse, seems to spread out width wise and ignore the height region dimensions 758x545 .item width 758x1071
Scroll + fit to region = region says 758px & text scroll region shrinks to 503px so is in the middle of the screen in a box
Scroll + no fit to region = region says 758px & box is bigger and looks zoomed, the dimensions say .item width 372px and fills the 758px region

This make sense? I may be just getting all this wrong but before he upgrade I dragged my region to the size I wanted, put some text in and set a scroll and it filled the width.

I've run a bunch of tests with scrolling, fit to region, not fit to region, etc and can't seem to get it to deviate. Would it be possible to have the source code behind your text item and the exact width/height settings you have for your region?

This stuff has changed, but we believed it to be more consistent rather than less.

Out of curiosity - is this a text item that existed in 1.4? I wonder if it is using the old EM style font sizing that should have been upgraded automatically.

No worries, I may put a parallel xibo install on my network and see if its my fault too.

This xibo install is used to display a menu near our dining room so I update it weekly.

Here is the text region. It adds the style 1 when I save it...

<p align="center" class="style1" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;"><strong>Main Course</strong></span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;">Paella.<br />
OR<br />
Jacket potato with tuna mayo OR beans OR cheese.<br />
Pasta with tomato sauce OR cheese.<br />
Potatoes / vegetables</span></p>
<p align="center" class="style1" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;"><strong>MEAT FREE CHOICE</strong></span></p>
<p align="center" class="style1" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;">Mushroom stroganoff.</span></p>
<p align="center" class="style1" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;"><span style="font-size: 14px;"><strong>Dessert</strong></span></span></p>
<p align="center" class="style1" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;">Currant sponge with custard.</span></p>

The region is set as 1015x780

I've deleted the region and created a new page but its happening on that too.

That was helpful, thanks. I've popped another copy of that file in the bug for you to try.

Can you help with this problem?
