Installer won't create database

I have a new installation of Ununtu server. I have installed the LAMP elements and extracted xibo 1.2.4. I get all green on the traffic lights. The problem is trying to create the database. I click on new database and complete the fields. When I click on the Create button I'm instantly taken back to the beginning of the installation process.

Trying to use the mySQL root account to create the database.
