1.6.0-rc1 RSS Tickers not displayed on linux pyclient but OK on windows client

When adding a RSS tickers, the preview is OK, Windows client shows the Ticker but Linux pyclient shows a black screen.

I tried with several RSS from different websites.
Machine under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, with latest updates. Xibo installed with Ubuntu installation script ( https://launchpad.net/xibo/1.6/1.6.0-rc1/+download/xibo-1.6.0-ubuntu.all-pyclient.sh)

I noticed something strange in the xibo data folder, I find the data file containing the html of the ticker ( in my case M79c7637a1ba57f84d4f5dfaafef2d41c-12-13-tmp.html ), but also what I though was the original RSS XML file ( 79c7637a1ba57f84d4f5dfaafef2d41c-cache.xml) but that file contains the same html content than the first file, and is thus no XML file. This could be a clue

The html file of the ticker displays good when I open it in a browser.

Any help is welcome

The HTML and XML being the same is correct.

It's probably to do with the scaling issues we're having at the moment. Should be fixed in the next release.

Should be fixed in lp:xibo now.

On your client, if you do the following in a terminal

cd /opt/xibo/pyclient
bzr pull lp:xibo/1.6

That will update you to rc2 and the tickers should then work correctly.

after the update and I always see only the splash screen.

The test was carried out on two different clients, one virtual and one physical

Also just checking you are running the client against a 1.6.0-rc1 server?
It won't work with earlier servers at all.

You need to configure the client to log to screen or to file. By default it
won't log anything.

Yes i put i site.cfg

  logLevel=10

But log is empty

Put XiboLogScreen instead

Level 3 will be fine. 10 will be too much information

Then see what's in the console output

It's not running the layout because the client can't download the resources

It's definitely a 1.6.0-rc1 server?

If so, please clear your data directory and try again

Actually I just realised you'll need a server patch too that isn't in
1.6.0-rc1 - so this won't work even with a 1.6.0-rc1 server.

For now, you'll need to back out the change (buy doing the same as you did
to apply the patch again) or waiting until 1.6.0-rc2 is released.

I've gor same issue after updating pyclient to rc2, using server rc1.

To downgrade pyclient to rc1, did you mean using these commands again :
cd /opt/xibo/pyclient
bzr pull lp:xibo/1.6
?

Im seeing something similar with the latest phtyon client and Server 1.6.1, displays a blank frame, but then when the frame refreshes after the time has exipred it shows the RSS this time around, but then when it times out again it diseappears and carrys on with this behaviour
