Change client IE rendering mode

Can we please change (or have the ability to change) the client's IE rendering mode from IE 7 (which appears to be the current default) to IE 8, IE 9 or IE 10 (if possible as a setting in the local Client Options).

I have web pages which are not properly rendering properly in the 1.6.0-rc1 client because "IE 7 is no longer a supported browser"
