android client not showing time and date

I'm having a problem with the android client. when i add the time and date to the layout, it shows up fine in the rendered preview, however on the display it just shows" [Clock] [Date] "
running android client (trial for now in testing)
server is ubuntu runung 1.6 beta

any ideas?

The Android Client doesn't form part of the open source project. Support
for that is available from Spring Signage directly at
https://springsignage.freshdesk.com
