Is it possible to set the vertical alignment of content in a region?

I have a few regions on a layout that display image content from the library, but I notice that because the region shape is a bit different than the image shape, the image seems to just fill from the top of the region down, leaving lots of blank space at the bottom of the region where it won't fill. I'm wondering if there is any way to set the vertical alignment of content in the region to be centered vertically, just to make it less obvious that the content doesn't quite fit the region.
