Scheduling a recurring video

Asked by Mark Minnie

I have a video that is 1 minute 11 seconds long. I'd like to play that every hour. In the schedule/calendar screen, I click on a date the schedule an event.

I do NOT see how I would select an end time 1:11 after the start time.

If I select the end time 1 minute after, the video is stopped at 1 minute. If I select an end time of 2 minutes after the start time, the video repeats in a loop until 2 minutes (sometimes restarting what seems like randomly at about a minute in). If I enter the seconds in (for example an end time of 03:03:11), the video runs (didn't time how long) but stops and restarts half way through.

How would I setup this video to run the full 1 minute 11 seconds and then go back to the default layout without looping again?

You approach it the other way around

So create a schedule with priority for your video which lasts 1 minute.
Repeating every hour.

Your video will then show once and then return to the default layout or
whatever else you have scheduled.

Thanks for your help Alex.

When I create a schedule with priority for my video in which the end time of the schedule is 1 minute after the start time, the last 11 seconds of my 1:11 video doesn't show.

Example of what I enter into the :

Start time: 10/02/2014 - 06:00
End time: 10/02/2014 - 06:01
Display order: 0
Priority: Checked
Repeats - Hourly
Repeat every - 1
Until - 26/02/2014 - 00:00

It seems like the schedule time (1 minute exactly) takes precedence over the length of the layout or campaign (mine being just the video that is 1:11).

When you say approach it the other way around....I guess I don't know how else to schedule it.

What you're doing should work.

Which client and version are you using?

The client is SpringSignage's Android client version 1.4.

I can't install the Ubuntu client as I only have 13.10 Ubuntu. I don't currently have access to a Windows workstation to test.

Do you think it could be a client issue?

Should the length of the video take precedence over the length of the scheduled priority event?

OK so for support on the Android client, you need to contact Spring Signage directly.

That client does not form part of the Open Source project and so cannot be discussed here.

If you have purchased a Xibo for Android licence then support is included in your purchase at https://springsignage.freshdesk.com or by following the links from their website.
