Client for Lubuntu 13.10

I am using an old computer to run a digital noticeboard for a Church. I have installed Lubuntu 13.10 for it's low system requirements.
The xibo server 1.4.2 is installed and working fine.
I hadn't realised that the client was only supported on a 3 year old version of Ubuntu.
Is anyone working on making the client work on newer versions?
Are there any significant reasons why it won't work?
