Transitions are only supported on the Linux client at this stage.

is there any temporary solution to remove the lag/black screen between media

The "black flash" is linked to the hardware capabilities as the Xibo client swaps media in and out - there is no temporary solution.

We are working on a number of things that might improve this effect, but due to the way the client is written we are relying on some things to happen in a timely manner and sometimes they do not (loading a video for example is down to the o/s level).

Best thing to do at this stage is run the Ubuntu client (assuming it fits all your needs in other areas)

Hi Dan,

I had/have tried with ubuntu OS. I am still experimenting the same(since m not good with linux) by connecting a demo ubuntu pc (10.04) with exisiting network setup. The only problem i am facing is images gets pixelated when displayed in xibo, the quality is getting compressed. Also i have been unable to play videos on the xibo client(both videos are in wmv and .avi format). Whereas the same layout running parallel on win xp client is running on better quality.

I have gone through the wiki and documentation section to get ubuntu client up and running. I have tried installing optional players like xmbc on ubuntu(for video codec) to get video running on xibo client but same is not displaying. Even i have followed the install and upgrade command for driver and libavcodec patches.

I am running ubuntu on Zotac Mini PC ID81 series with:

Intel® Celeron® Processor 857
Intel HM65 Express
Intel HD Graphics

I would require support of xibo members who have already installed on ubuntu and running it smoothly with a good step by step documentation

regards
prakash

It sounds like for the time being you are stuck with the windows client - the xibo developers dont have time to provide that support directly for Ubuntu.

There is an item on the schedule for 1.5 to switch the windows client to use DirectShow for rendering videos - this has some limitations, but it does completely solve the black flash.

It is coming in a month or two.
