Why are all the good new features in 1.7?

Why are all the good new features in 1.7? or is this pushing all the request out to last software version on the books?

One main reason... we want to speed up the release of new features so even though they are pushed out to 1.7, they shouldn't be that far away.

I think we have some good stuff in 1.5 too ;-)
