Need help with a variable timetable to show in an Area on my Layout

Asked by Faisal Ali

Hi,

Thanks for this great system. I am new to it, but after spending a fair amount of time reading the docs, wiki and this forum i have setup my server & client and everything except one issue is as i want it to be and hence my question here:

My server is a Windows 7 1.42 and the client is the Windows .Net client and i only have 1 display for now.

This setup is for my local Mosque and i have a background layout designed for for this purpose. In this Layout, there's an area that i want to display the 5 daily prayer timetable and i have defined a Text area to do this and it is just about functional. The problem is that the times change by a minute or two for everyday depending on the daylight and season so it becomes tedious to edit this everyday. Is there a way to have a script or something similar to pull the times of each day's timetable from a text document, spreadsheet or similar that we can pre-populate up-to a month in advance and have it displayed in the dedicated area?

I realize this is a particular use case and i don't expect any off the shelf solution so i would be interested in paying someone to create this script or solution if need be as i don't code unfortunately.

Please see this image to see an example of the layout area, it is the area highlighted in red the times will appear in, the surrounding area is static and part of the background layout: http://postimg.org/image/3p5i8qp29/

Many thanks in advance,
Faisal

Use "DATASET". It was made just to do this. http://xibo.org.uk/2012/04/15/introducing-datasets/

Hi,

I have had a look at the link you provided above then tried to replicate the example shown in the manual found @: http://xibo.org.uk/manual/content/layout/content_datasets.php
I did everything as per the example shown yet all i get is " No columns" in my layout Area. I checked all the steps, but i am not sure what i have missed. What could be wrong?

Thanks very much for your help
Faisal
