Is Jquery & HTML5 Working now in 1.4 python client?

Asked by Paul Cashman

I notices a new Libbrowsernode build ( libavg-1.7.1-vdpau-berkelium11) in the 1.4 Ubuntu 10.04 client.

Does this fix some of the javascript and jquery issues. Does HTML5 <canvas> work? That would be great as I have found animations and movement really increase the viewers attention and make for a more "Professional" looking sign.

I been using jquery to animate alot of web pages for signs and it works great on the windows client but the 1.2.2 python client with libavg-berkelium-vdpau-1.6.0 did not and some javascript stuff like fading slideshows are broken too. I'm kind of holding off upgrading to 1.4 as I would like to shift over to linux on the client side at the same time (to save money) as the pc's we are using are old (10 year old P4's) and tired and in need of retirement too.

I would LOVE to move to a Low Cost Arm based Linux box.

I have been following CNX-Software.com work at porting Xibo to Arm based boxes-

http://www.cnx-software.com/2012/05/04/xibo-digital-signage-running-on-mele-a1000-allwinner-a10-set-top-box/

-and wonder if you guys have played around with any of these cheap "Google TV" boxes like the MK802.

This is the SD Card image he built for the Mele A1000 (should work with most Allwinner A10 based boxes) with the all lib's, Libbrowsernode and Xibo installed:

It seems like there is a lot of work going on to get the hardware drivers for the mali-400 & Cedar working with Linux.

Even with out the acceleration, it would make a good "Light Weight" client for Xibo.
Maybe you could sell an entry level MK802 box with the Xibo client all ready installed and a config script on boot for wifi and server info. It could come with a stripped down (Pictures and text only) web service with a small monthly fee. Maybe even some Tablets?
I see the price for the MK802 is around $35 US per unit now so there is wiggle room there and the profits could help support the project.

Just a thought...

Anyway - Keep up the Good Work!

There's no change in the browser being used to my knowledge.

We have a native Android client in development. There will be an announcement soon.
