Scheduling individual images in a slide show

Asked by Jeff Brody

We are seeking to use Xibo to create a series of informational displays that will appear at the nine branch libraries in our library system. The displays include a welcome to the branch (in text), an RSS feed featuring upcoming branch events, and a series of images of promotional event posters and of people in the libraries.

The problem is that I would like to be able to schedule the time when each image can be presented. If I was adding an image today of a poster for an event at 7 p.m. on Oct. 20, I would want to be able to set the schedule for that image so that the image will not be seen after 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 20. But Xibo doesn't appear to allow me to create a schedule for each image in the show, only for the entire display. That makes scheduling the displays for the nine libraries extremely complicated.

Please tell me I'm missing something.

The only way to do that is to have a layout per image, and then schedule the layout. Xibo is really designed to show a bunch of different layouts in a rotation - it is difficult at the moment to see a single piece of content at a specific time.

I was afraid that was the case. That is way too unwieldy for our purposes, then. I like some of the features of this software, but I'm afraid that shortcoming is a killer for us.

I don't think its a short coming or un-weildy, its just not a good fit for what you want.

If you like the other features sufficiently enough then im sure someone can patch in the region timeline expiry date on a commercial basis (which is pretty much what you want, right?)... There is a blueprint for adding something like that - called content streams (or time lines)...
