"retired" pictures show randomly on region

Asked by prmit

Hello,

I work as an IT Admin for a Hotel in Rhodes Greece. We recently adopted Xibo for Digital Signage replacing the proprietary setup we had up until now. It generally works well and it is much better than the one we used to have. Whatever problem I 've encountered with Xibo I have solved via searching through launcpad.

I can't seem to find a solution for a strange issue I have though.

Here it is:

I have a general layout that we use in the hotel lobby. It has general info for the hotel (restaraunts, telephone numbers, weather, time etc). There is also one particular region that is supposed to display the picture of the "manager on Duty " for the day.

I have created an account called "reception" and gave permission to edit that particular region and to all the pictures.

But when the users change the picture nothing happens. Even if they restart the client the region keeps showing that particular picture. The last few days 3 different pictures show up periodically even though only one is actually set to display in the timeline.

Any ideas anybody?

Which version are you using at the moment? And which client?

If you are editing the image directly from the Library page, then it will not be updated in any layouts it is assigned to (they will keep a reference to the previous image).

In 1.3.2 there is a checkbox on the edit media form which will allow you to "update in all layouts"... but in 1.2 you will need to do the editing from the layout/region itself.

Dan thanks for your help and sorry for my late reply.
I have solved the problem, it was not a mulfunction of xibo after all. The user "reception" could not view that there were other items in the timeline and delete them due to permissions not set correctly. It now works fine.
