Out Of Memory

Asked by Andy Finney

Hi,

We are getting an error message on one of our Xibo clients (Windows 7). As soon as the PC boots up, the Xibo client starts, and straight away an error message appears saying "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will close immediately" and then "Out of Memory". I have seen other posts that mention this same issue and that it occurs after several hours. Unfortunately, this is happening straight away.

Thanks.

Andy.

In addition to my previous message, there appears to be a memory leak when the Xibo Client is opened. The amount of RAM used goes from 300mb to 2gb and then crashes. Is there a fix for this?

A really good start would be telling us what version of Xibo server and client you're running.

There is a known issue with all Windows versions of the client when displaying some kinds of embedded HTML/webpage due to IE leaking memory - so it may well be that you're seeing that.

I've sorted it myself thanks. It was due to a JPEG that had been added today. I just removed the new picture and the memory leak stopped.

Thanks.

Do you think it would be possible to send us a copy of that JPEG? it would be nice to trap this crash.

If so, <email address hidden>

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry, unfortunately the JPEG that was causing this error appears to have now been deleted.

If this problem returns with another JPEG, I will forward that one on as requested.

Hello, am getting this same error with just a simple webpage displaying a table.

IE 8
Xibo client version 1.4.0

1.4.0 is now very old and no longer supported. I'm not certain that your
issue will be resolved in 1.6 series but you should upgrade as no new 1.4
releases will be made going forward

Thanks.

I have installed XIBO Client 1.6.0 but still face the same problem.

As we've explained previously it's Internet Explorer that leaks memory.
We've done all we can to work around it. Again 1.6.0 is two versions behind
current so you should really upgrade to latest
