Only five displays are allowed

Asked by Ed Kipp

I have created five Xibo clients connecting to our server, when I attempt to add a sixth, it will not add by name. It shows the IP Address of the current machine under the properties of the sixth, with the IP of the sixth. When both machines are on simultaneously, they pull the same layout and both see themselves as the 'fifth' client. I have a total of eleven clients to deploy in the next three days, the original three have been deployed for over a month with no issues. I've checked to see if there is a limitation for client displays and there does not appear to be.

To elaborate, I have five displays:

HLCXIBOREC1
HLCXIBOREC2
HLCXIBOREC3
HLCXIBOHS1
HLCXIBOHS2

When I add HLCXIBOHS3 and register the display, it automatically says that the display is ready, and in the admin interface, HLCXIBOHS3 does not exist, but the IP for HLCXIBOHS3 is listed under the HLCXIBOHS2 display name. No matter what I name the sixth machine, it shows up as HLCXIBOHS2.

You need to ensure the client key is unique on each client.

We generate one for each new installation based on unique identifiers in Windows and your hardware, but if the hardware is identical and your Windows is cloned (ir your oem cloned it) then sometimes it will generate the same key.

Just change it in the client settings, save and then register.

There's an FAQ on this already so have a read of that

Perfect - Thank you for the prompt reply. The new machines are all the same model, same image. I changed the client key and it worked like a charm. I appreciate your assitance.
