Resolution problems

Asked by Christoph Pitteloud

Hi!

We have installed Xibo on 20 machines and have the same problem on all.

We use HP 8200 USDT and HP LD4210 monitors, connected with Display Port...

The PCs checks Xibo's content in the night (for bandwith reasons) and check in the same way Windows updates...

Sometimes the PCs needs to reboot or logout-login automatically during this.

The problem is that if Xibo reloads during this, the monitor is turned off. With display port, the computer only recognizes 640x480 resolutions during this.
So when Xibo loads, it is at this resolution. next the monitor turns on (at 6h AM) but Xibo remains on the old resolution, we have to quit and reopen it....

Is there not a way for Xibo to check the monitor's resolution regulary?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi

No - it doesn't expect you to change screen resolution while it's running.

If I were you I'd set up a script to kill the client just before 6am and start it just after 6am so that it's always right.

Thank you for the fast answer.

We've tried this through GPO, but that's not really was usable but we'll try more.

And what about a planned update replacing a time between (...) updates?

Best Regards

Sorry I don't understand what "And what about a planned update replacing a time between (...) updates?" means?

Sorry that's not my mothertongue...

I just was asking about... in the client, in place of configuring delay between updates, can you maybe imagine to make a planning like "update from 1.00 AM till 4.00 AM but not later"...

For us the problem is that we are an industry with many sites and many different bandwith (from 100mbps down to 1.5 mbps) and we use the same line for these datas and industrial communication too... :-/ so we can't use the complete connection during the day....

Thank you for your help!

OK I understand now.

It's come up before. The Python client already has support for that. The .net client doesn't. We may well add support for that at some point - it's on our radar - but there's no firm plans right now.

I presume you've already used the size/positioning tools in the client advanced options to force the client to run at a particular resolution and position on the screen? Did that not work?

Can you help with this problem?
