New feature - Open local media file with client?

Hi,

how can I open a local copied mediafile e.g. mp4 or mpeg with a XIBO-Client.

Sometimes we have mediafiles with as size greater then 50 MB. So we can not use the Xibo-System for it.
At the moment we stop Xibo-Client manually and start e.g. VLCmediaPlayer to show that file. The file mil be copied manually from an usb-stick or fram a share.

Perhaps this could become a new feature to Xibo.

There's nothing to stop you uploading files bigger than 50MB in to Xibo. You need to setup your webserver to allow it that's all.

Thanks for your answer.

We modified e.g. php.ini, in apache the max_upload etc. but it seem that the client will hang by synchronize that file.

Does anyone has experience in using xibo with video-files greater than 20 MB?

Yes we regularly use >500MB files with Xibo.

thanks for you help.
Do I only have to test wether the MediaPlayer shows that file?
Then it will run.

You need to make sure Windows Media Player will play whatever files it is you're uploading on the client machine.

Xibo will only download the file and play it using Windows Media Player, so if WMP can't play the file, the client won't be able to either.

Hi Bernd,

on our clients we use codecs like "ffdshow", so you have a good start point for WMPlayer.
We also use file bigger than 500mb. On our WLAN Xibos it takes a while to upload big files, but It works.
