After server install nothing works on Ubuntu

Asked by Jonas Christoffersen

After installing xibo server on Ubuntu 10.4 I can't use the web interface of the server

During installation everything goes fine

After install in browser I login as xibo_admin and get the dashboard but if I try to add users or add templates or layouts I get a file not found error.

In the Apache log file I can see that it tries to call install.php and that is gone.

I've installed the xibo-server 1.2.2 on an Ubuntu 10.04 LTS following the Server installation guide in the wiki
I ran the browser part of the installation from my windows 7 machine and logged into the dashboard from there.

It seams that everything works up to the point where I click the Add something button.

As I have understod it should call the core.js and not install.php but the apache logfil shows the following:

[Wed Feb 22 23:13:47 2012] [error] [client 172.18.12.140] script '/var/www/xibo/install.php' not found or unable to stat, referer: http://172.18.12.128/xibo/index.php?p=layout&

Any Ideas why it still wants the Install file?

Kind Regards,
Jonas Christoffersen

I was using Internet explore 9 on my Windows 7 64-bit machine.

I just tried it whit firefox on the same machine and then all seems to works just fine.

Glad you sorted it - for your info, the install file is referenced to work out whether a newer version has been extracted into the folder.

In other words the prescence of an install file indicates that an install / upgrade is required.

Well problem is that the organisation I was thinking of using this, only use Internet Explore, but the use 8 so I'll test to see if the problem is the same there.

IE8 is fine. IE9 is known not to work with any currently released version of Xibo.
