All zones restart at once

Hi there

I'm new to Xibo and I'm very impressed with it so far.

I've modified the default layout and currently have 5 zones. I've not set any schedules so far.
From shortest to longest the zones have content which total 30, 30, 40, 121 and 161 seconds.
I can see each of the zones that are less than 161 seconds repeating until 161 seconds is reached and everything starts from scratch.
I thought, perhaps naively, that each zone would repeat on its own schedule forever.

My first question is this, is this automatic resetting of zones expected behaviour?
Secondly, how can I get the display to repeat each zone independently?

Hi, glad you like Xibo.

The automatic reset behavior is actually the layout expiring - typically in this situation Xibo would move onto the next scheduled layout. Because you only have one layout, Xibo just re shows the layout you were on previously.

You can set a region to have a really long duration, which will prevent the layout from ever expiring... but this will hamper any attempt to do scheduling as Xibo will not know when to move on.

Thanks for the quick response.

In this particular case I want only one layout and each zone has multiple items in it so I can't make any one of them longer than it already is.

So what I've done is to create a small dummy zone with one item that lasts all day and it works just fine.
