Data modification

create for example a powerpoint-file, put it into the library and display it on the client...ok, works

Now you have to modify the powerpoint-file.

Save the modified file directly into the library or should I remove the old file from the library an put the new one in to it ? Inthis cast I must reconfigure the timeline?

Wich method is recommended?

You edit the layout, edit the PowerPoint item in the region timeline and upload the new version there.

In the development preview you can also update it in the library page by editing it, uploading a new revision and ticking the box to update in all layouts.

Alex,
this works, I didnt know, that I can save a modified file in library with the same name.

But within my production environment I have 4 clients with different layouts, but the same file in the timeline, so I have to edit each timeline.

yout method would be better for me, but: WHERE is the box to "Update in all layouts" ?? I cannot find it.

The Update in all Layouts is only in the very latest development preview release. It won't be available in a stable Xibo until 1.4.0 is released.

If you're still using 1.2 series then for now you'll have to edit the content on each layout.
