Xibo and Live TV

Asked by Anthony

Hello I am new to Xibo and looking for a solution that I can use to play informational AD's in multiple ZONEs and then have Live TV playing in another Zone.

is this possible and if so is there any good site or documentation that explains how to accomplish this?

any help would be appreciated.

Yes this is possible using VLC/Videolan. With this program you can create a webstream of your videofeed, which you then can broadcast over your network, or pick up with any Xibo client.

Many people have asked this, so I would suggest searching through previous questions. Here's a starting point for you: http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/202012-How-to-stream-live-tv-or-video-with-VLC-videolan

To expand this question (if that's ok) what would be the suggested setup to have a live stream from a church service for example flow through VLC and into xibo? Would be be feasible to run VLC off our windows server to create the LAN stream or would it be better to use an alternate machine to create the stream into the network? The xibo server app would be running on our Windows Server system which is always on so I beleive it would be the best place to put it but then again I wouldn't want to start putting memory intensive applications on the server... i'm a little split on that so any help would be great!!

Can you help with this problem?
