What do you have in the "Number of Items from the start/end of the feed" settings? And is "Duration is per item" ticked?

I've tested the feed here and it seems to be working OK.

All,

OK, I give up, where are the settings at that you describe as "Number of items from start/end of feed" at. Also "Duration is per item". I'm missing something obvious somewhere I think.

I checked Sever Options for Region, for Ticker Item, I checked Client Settings, and looked again in Ticker setup items. I also tried looking in online RSS Doc's but the links I found default to this page:

http://wiki.xibo.org.uk/wiki/Manual:Layouts:Design#Ticker

Which doesn't mention either of those two settings above. Is there another DOC page somewhere for RSS? I didn't get anything immediately useful from a general search on rss.

Thanks

bobb

They're new in 1.3.0 or 1.3.1 from memory.

As you didn't say what version you're using, I expect Dan assumed you're using the newest development preview version.

If you're using the latest stable - 1.2.2 - then those options don't exist.

The reason it doesn't work is the HTML formatting in the feed that CNN put in. It is actually working, but you'll see the next item appearing below your first item. There's not alot we can do to fix that.

If you substitute in a known good feed (eg http://xibo.org.uk/feed) then I think you'll find it renders correctly.

Alex,

I was starting to wonder about the client version, I did check the download area as a last step yesterday, but only saw the stable stuff there. I was starting to see some references to the newer clients the more I looked through the archives though.

The multiple line thing makes sense as well, since I was trying to implement a straight right to left ticker only one line high.

All,

So, I upgraded everything to 1.3.1 (server and client) and still only see the first item in the RSS readout. I must have a setting or combination of settings wrong. Dows something need to be restarted, or are my settings wrong somewhere.

Settings:

Link: http://rss.cnn.com/cnn_us.rss
Direction: Left (one line high)
Duration: 40
Scroll Speed : 20 (with 2x on client)
Update interval: 0
Number of Items: 5
From the : Start of the Feed
Duration is per item :CHECKED

Hi Bobb

Upgrading to 1.3.1 won't change the contents of the CNN feed. It still has DIV tags as part of the Description feed and so will break left/right scrolling of their feed.
