Offline Mode

Asked by John C

I would like to use the player in offline mode and update it via USB. I have read that this is possible. I have downloaded, installed, and configured the offline client with no problem. But, I'm not sure how to configure the actual player computer. I have read the instructions for the offline mode, but I don't understand them. I'm a computer tech, but not a programmer. So, I really don't understand the "Create / edit the configuration .... python/site.cfg". Is it possible for a non-programmer to configure this? I am a quick learner and if you have some detailed insturctions, I would like to get this to work. I'm using Windows XP.

Thanks,
John

You need to be using the python client on Ubuntu and follow the detailed
instructions in the installation guide.

So, can I use a Windows XP box as a player machine that can be updated via USB, or does the player machine have to be a Ubuntu box? Is it possible to configure it in the Ubuntu box and then somehow tranfer the settings to the Windows box? If so, how would I do this?

No. It's not supported on the Windows client.

Can you help with this problem?
