Layout not updating

Asked by RG

Hi,

I have to restart the PC everytime I make a change to the layout and sometimes even a restart does not update the layout.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have checked the client options and they look all right.

What client connection interval have you got set?
Have you ticked the option for the client to interrupt running layouts?
What's the total duration of the currently running layout (ie the sum
of all media items in your longest running region)?
How long are you leaving for it to update having made a change on the server?
What server and client versions are you running?
What OS are you running the client on?

I have the collection interval set at 900.
Where do I set the interrupt running layouts.
The total duration is just one region as currently I am testing if it works.
I have left it about an hour but still no update. When I start using another layout it does not change to it. It is still using the other layout.
I am running version 1.2.2 for client and server.
The client is on a windows 7 and the server is just a WAMP server installed on a windows 7 machine for testing purposes.

What's the total duration of the media in that region?

The option to interrupt running layouts is in the client options under
Advanced and is called "Expire modified layouts while they are
playing?"

The duration is of the region is 100s however as it is just one region it carries on running until I close it.

I have ticked that option however the PC is still loading the old layout not the one I have set it to.

In that case you'll need to wait a maximum of 900 + 100 seconds for
the layout to change - so say 17 minutes.

How are you changing the layout? Via the schedule or via the default
layout setting? Make sure your server and client clocks agree if
you're using the schedule otherwise the client may not play what
you're expecting.

I have waited longer than that - I have waited in this morning :s

I have not set a schedule I have just assigned the layout to the PC which has been working fine for the last month but now it doesn't. I have restarted the PC 3 times now but still nothing.

Sorry to be a pain just frustrating that it was working before but not now.

I have added a BBC RSS feed and some text. The other layout is just a background and text.

It just seems stuck on the one layout and won't point to the other one even though I have set it to.

Have you set the ticker to scroll and if so, have you set it to scroll
with a very low value (ie fast), because the client is single threaded
and the scrolling alone can hog all the available CPU time and prevent
the client updating properly.

I have not set no ticker. Where do I need to do this?

Would Xibo work better with a XP machine?

It's developed on Windows 7 but there are probably more people who use it on XP.

Try stopping the client and deleting the contents of the local client
library folder you've configured in the options.

I have just uninstalled it from the client machine and then re-installed it. I have also deleted the folder you suggested and now it has worked. Very strange but glad its finally working.
