external xibo server

First of all would like to appreciate the effort building xibo digital signage group.
From overview of a typical Xibo network! image posted at http://xibo.org.uk/get-xibo/, we have xibo server and external server, so my question is what is the purpose of external server, what scenario for external server, is external server is outside my LAN or inside, thanks

They're things like webservers. Ie servers that Xibo can pull RSS
feeds, web pages etc from.

webservers inside the LAN? the way I understand something like xibo server mirror or a cluster if not, is it possible to do a redundant setup xibo can you please give us a trigger point to configure, or other way setup to production. thanks
