Good video conversion program?

Asked by Dave

I don't seem to be able find the right output format for xibo videos. I'm coming from a Linux and Mac world. Can anyone suggest a good and/or free Windows based video conversion program?

I'm starting with .mov and .mp4 files. The .avi files I make don't seem to play.

I can get embedded flash and static images to work. As well as web feeds.

Thanks,
David

Ffmpeg is about the best you can get for free.

Assuming you've got the codecs installed so that Windows Media Player will play the MP4 files on your client machines, why not just use those directly?

You can either rename them to .mpg files - which I think should work, or failing that in the module table of the database add mp4 as a valid extension for the video module.

This is might be outdated.....However for people searching for a similar answer......I suggest to try Freemake an excellent video format conversion free software. The converted output quality is absolutely great even if the original file is scaled. I wonder how the developers decided to release it as a freeware. It beats hands down all other conversion software in the market. Most commercial ones are just customzied GUI thrown over FFMPEG or other freely available open source codecs.

You can grab a copy of Freemake at http://www.freemake.com.

Cheers...
